Human Capital Dev Series - Evening Talk

The second part of our Human Capital Development talks is as follows:
Title: The What and How of Talent Management
Date/Day : Jul 18, Tue
Time: 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm
Place: Paya Lebar Methodist Church
Speaker: Eric Tan, Managing Director, MAL Management Center of Asia Sdn Bhd
Synopsis:
'Talent management', which originated in the USA, is a crucial way of securing, developing and motivating people with the right skills and approaches to meet business objectives. Most large organisations talk about Talent Management as part of their wider strategy.
What are the techniques used in talent management to develop people? How do hugely successful companies like IBM, manage their talent? How does one manage our own talents so that we continue to be sought after by the market?
We have invited Eric Tan, Class of 1986 to share with us his experience in helping organisations manage their talent. After graduating from NTI as a mechanical engineer, Eric worked in 3 different American MNCs before he was sent by SingTel to Malaysia in 1994 to set up a joint-venture company. Subsequently, Eric remained in Malaysia and joined a training company that represented the American Management Association (AMA). He was also the National Director of “Walk Thru the Bible Ministries” in Malaysia where he helped pastors and churches conduct life-changing truths through quality seminars and training. After serving in this capacity for 10 years, Eric decided to start his own company as a provider and developer of innovative, high-quality people and process solutions especially in the area of talent management. Eric is also appointed by the Leadership Institute of America as the Principal Trainer for Malaysia.
If you are wondering how successful organisations manage their talents in today’s highly competitive world so that you can better position yourself, this is the talk you should not miss. The easy way for most of us is to assume that the organisations we work for will invest in developing our talents. But the sad truth is that this is not happening. We got to take charge of managing our own talents before we become obsolete. Don't miss this chance to understand how the market looks at talent management and understand some of the concepts and tools. Perhaps, after this talk, you will actively manage your own talents as well as help others manage theirs. We want to deeply thank Eric Tan for travelling all the way from Malaysia to share with us.
